Is this your first visit? Maybe you found one of our gift cards underneath your christmas tree this year? We would love to tell you a bit more about what happened to Your christmas gift money!

This year someone chose to invest your money in a house that will be built in Awassa, Ethiopia. We will start off with buying a vacant lot, and when we are finished building our ten kids will be moving in to their new home, and they will have you to thank for a dream coming true!

Do you want to order gift cards to give away?

Our gift cards with irresistably cute illustrations by Bettina Johansson are available in three denominations. Choose between SEK50(EUR5), SEK100(EUR10) or SEK500(EUR50), and order by e-mailing your name, address and desired denominations to info@gryningsbarnen.se and we will respond with instructions for payment. Your cards will be sent by post and the postage will be added to your total sum of payment.

We're building a new home!

With ten wonderful children in our care we have long understood that we need our own house in order to guarantee their security. To rent is simply not a long-term solution. But in Ethiopia house prices rises and to both buy a house and then renovate it is an expensive affair. And difficult to carry out since you need all of the fundings at the same time.

We have made the decision to buy a plot and start building a house that already from the beginning suits our needs. There will be room for fun and games but also room to be alone. We are dreaming of a small library where the kids can sit to read or do their homework. A place for a few chicken who can lay the childrens' breakfast eggs. And a kitchen that provides a good working environment for the women who work for us.

Our dreams are many and we now begin the work to realise them. Follow the progress on our blog Hemma Hos Gryningsbarnen. It will be mainly in Swedish but we will offer some information in English now and then as well as pictures of our progress. If you want to contribute you can do so through paypal.

About us

Swedish Ngat - Gryningsbarnen and Ethiopian Ngat Orphans and Street Children Association are two non-profit, non-governmental organiSations who together run a care centre for vulnerable children in Awassa, Ethiopia. The two organisations work in close cooperation - the Swedish organisation is responsible for funding the project, while the Ethiopian organisation delivers the services.
The Care Centre has given a new future to ten wonderful kids who used to provide for themselves and their families by begging in the streets of Awassa. They now live with us, go to school and do everything that children deserve to be able to do!
Ngat-Gryningbarnen aspires to be an innovative and transparent organisation that inspires people to work for a better world. We want to show that even the smallest contribution can make a big difference.
Most of our income is donated by individuals and smaller charities.

We are monitored and certified by Svensk Insamlingskontroll. Svensk Insamlingskontroll is in cooperation with the international organisation ICFO. The purpose of Svensk Insamlingskontroll as well as ICFO is to ensure that fundraising for charitable purposes is being organized and performed in a satisfactory manner and that the administration of the collected funds is adequate.
